Local food observations

For the record, Zaxby’s hot honey muztard buffalo fingers are worth trying. I don’t eat much fried chicken, but these are worth the exception.

While not as good as Moe’s when it comes to shiny-strip-mall-burrito-places, Qdoba has become a regular weekly lunch visit. The mole chicken goes well with their spicy ranch. Oh, and iced grande soy latte is only a few stores down.

I currently don’t know if Charlotte has any good sushi places. I have no desire to try sushi from a Chinese buffet-style place, even if it’s the best-tasting damn sushi in the state.

Thai Taste is a respectably good Thai place in downtown Matthews. The bistro/deli across the street, which Larry and I didn’t visit because it was too busy last week, appears to have permanently closed this week.

The Engineer Sub from Firehouse Subs is one of the best hot subs I’ve ever had.

There are McAlister’s Delis all over the Charlotte area.

Boston Markets here don’t have drive through windows. I find this interesting only since I rarely used the drive through window at the one in Cary (which I visisted at least once a week).

The local Harris Teeter salad bar is almost on par with the one at Whole Foods. I have yet to find a Whole Foods anywhere around here.
